The President of Congress Tamil Nadu (TNCC) K. Selvaperunthagai asked on Monday whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would talk about Rajendra Chola’s history in northern India, where he believed that the king led about 1,000 years ago.
He was talking at a press conference to announce essays and writing and publicly speaking competitions for the celebration of the birth of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, establishment of rajiv Gandhi Ias Academy and an institution of prizes on behalf of Congress leaders.
Mr. Selvaprunthagagagai said, “Mr. Modi must speak of the statue of Rajendr Chola in northern India. Rajendra Chola is called the Cholan gangaicond. President TNCC questioned Mr. Modi’s claim that the center has passed over the last 10 years Crore 3 Lakh Crore to Tamil Nadu, which was much higher than what UP’s government led by Congress. “The Minister of the Interior Union Amit Shah said that in 10 years it was given 6.80,000 GBP Crore, while the government led by Congress gave only 1,53,000 GBP crore.
Asked if the Congress would insist on sharing power with DMK after the elections to the Assembly in 2026, Mr. Selvavaperunthagai said: “We are a national party. There are more than 10 months left on the elections. We expressed our opinion on AICC, which will be decided.”
