2 Prince Harry and King Charles are quietly working to arrange a private meeting in New York, according to sources cited by veteran British-American journalist Rob Shuter. The meeting will take place during the king’s upcoming visit to the United States, Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice newsletter.
Harry and Meghan’s representatives have publicly played down the chances of any reunion. But Shuter’s sources say that behind the scenes, both sides are actively trying to make the meeting happen.
LiveMint could not independently verify the claim.
According to one insider, Harry is keen to bring his children, Archie and Lilibet, to the proposed meeting. “This isn’t just about him. It’s about reuniting as a family,” a source told Shuter.
Nothing has been confirmed and the meeting will be completely off the official schedule. “They are working on the logistics now. It would be completely private,” the insider said.
Timing brings complications. King Charles will be based in Washington, DC for a state visit during which he is expected to meet with Donald Trump.
“It complicates everything. On the one hand you have a state visit and on the other you have a very personal family situation,” the source said.
The US president has previously expressed little warmth towards Harry and Meghan. This political background made Washington an unlikely place for any personal family reunion.
Instead, New York emerged as the preferred location. “It’s neutral ground and easier to keep under the radar,” the source explained.
Shuter’s sources described the mood on both sides as cautiously hopeful. “There’s still a lot of healing to do,” said one insider. “But there is also a real desire to move forward.
The possible presence of grandchildren, sources suggested, could give the meeting a meaning far beyond mere diplomacy.
“This isn’t about headlines. It’s about family – and a chance to start over,” the insider added.
It is unclear whether Harry’s wife Meghan Markle will be part of the private meeting. The relationship between Meghan and the British royal family has been complicated.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit the United States for an official state visit at the end of April. The visit is likely to take place from April 27 to 30.
The trip will include Washington DC and a formal banquet at the White House. It will be the UK’s first state visit to the US since 2007. King Charles is also expected to address Congress.
However, according to the BBC, she is unlikely to meet her son Prince Harry, who lives in California, due to her busy schedule and the distance between them. After the US visit, the King will travel to Bermuda before returning to the UK.
