The main Palestinian factions, including Hamas, said on Friday they had agreed that an independent committee of technocrats would take over the governance of post-war Gaza.
During the meeting in Cairo, according to a joint statement posted on the Hamas website, the groups agreed to “hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to an interim Palestinian committee composed of independent ‘technocrats’ who will manage matters of life and basic services in cooperation with the Arab brothers and international institutions.”
