Will Delhi see rain today? “Strong winds” lower AQI levels; check IMD weather forecast and air quality status | Today’s news

Residents of Delhi woke up to a pleasant winter morning of 13 degrees Celsius at 7am on Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted fog and shallow to moderate fog during the morning hours with no chance of rain. The average air quality index (AQI) was reported at 214 on February 7, a slight improvement from the 220 AQI registered a day earlier.

In its latest weather bulletin, the Met Office predicted near normal minimum and maximum temperatures for February 7: “Mostly clear skies. Strong surface winds (speed 15-25 km/h) during the day. Fog during morning hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 23°C to 25°C and 09°C to 11°C.”

With no fog advisory and 2,300 meter visibility around Delhi Airport at 7:00 a.m., no flight disruptions were reported.

Safdarjung, the primary weather station, reported a minimum temperature of 9.1 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 24.8 degrees Celsius on Friday, registering a deviation of 1.52 degrees Celsius from normal. Data from the stations showed that Lodhi Road recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, followed by Ayanagar and Palam.

According to the IMD, two Western Disturbances will bring showers over the Western Himalayas in the coming days. “Wet spell with isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during February 9-11,” the IMD said.

In addition, the IMD has warned of dense fog in Uttarakhand during the morning and night hours of February 7. Meanwhile, similar weather conditions are expected in Himachal Pradesh till February 8.

Weather forecast in Delhi for the next 5 days

The IMD did not issue any weather warnings for the coming days, saying, “No major change in minimum temperatures during the next 5 days and then an increase of 1-2°C.” Between February 8 and 12, the weather is expected to be “Partly Cloudy” with “shallow to moderate fog during morning hours”.

According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, 14 monitoring stations out of 39 in the city recorded air quality in the ‘moderate’ category. Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport recorded the best AQI, reaching 139 on Saturday.

A total of 25 stations reported “poor” levels, with Jahangirpuri recording the worst AQI at 277.
