The Bengaluru Metro fare hike, which was supposed to come into effect on February 9, has been put on hold by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) amid criticism.
In a statement, BMRCL said that the earlier notification regarding fare revision will not be implemented until further orders are issued, indicating that a final decision is still awaited.
Clarifying its stand, BMRCL said, “The media of February 5 announcing the implementation of annual fare revision with effect from February 9 has been suspended till further orders.”
The corporation added that the matter will be discussed by its board before a final decision is taken. “A decision on the revised tariff will be announced after the board’s review.”
