Will be arrested anytime under NSA, says CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka: ‘Agar maar bhi diya to…’ | Today’s news

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) activist Ashutosh Ranka on Monday claimed that he was told by several sources that CJP activists Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and he would be arrested before October 10 under the National Security Act (NSA) or other equivalent statutory provisions.

Ranka’s charge comes at a time when the CJP is leading a massive protest against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar following an Indian Express investigation that revealed irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.

The CJP has urged citizens to organize a rally for the biggest protest on October 10 after the SIR row.

“If only I had been given a little more…”

In a post on X, Ranka said that all three are ready to go to jail from June 6 and emphasized that he is not afraid of anyone regarding the possible action.

“Multiple sources have informed that @abhijeet_dipke @SauravDassss and I will be arrested anytime before 10th under NSA/other equivalent provisions. All three of us ready to go to jail from 6th June. Nothing to fear,” Ranka posted on X.

He further alleged that the BJP-led government was afraid of their movement and alleged that the government was resorting to violence out of fear.

“But those who are determined to destroy this country should be afraid. And they are. As Gandhi said, ‘violence and hatred spring from fear’. The government is afraid and that’s why it resorts to violence,” Ranka added.

Ranka added that they have nothing to lose as they are fighting for a better and more responsible India.

“We are 30-year-olds fighting for a better and more responsible India. We have nothing to lose. You can arrest us, beat us up, even kill us. But you can’t stop us,” he declared.

Ranka concluded by saying, “Agar bhi diya to hamari chita se nikalne wali aag tumhare muholle ko meltha degi. (Even if you kill us, the fire rising from our borders will melt your neighborhood)”

CJP will continue the protests

CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke said the organization will continue to agitate against the government.

“If the government believes that the threat of UAPA, NSA or years behind bars will scare us into silence, it will not. We are ready to face whatever comes our way and spend months or years in jail if necessary, but we will not back down from our fight to save democracy,” Dipke said.

“We are following the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi and will continue to resist peacefully and non-violently, no matter how much the state tries to intimidate us,” he added.

The remarks follow a police crackdown that led to hundreds of arrests amid ongoing protests demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Review (SIR) exercise.

CJP’s Saurav Das, who has taken a stand against state action, said in a post on X that the youth are now aware and any kind of dictatorial action will no longer be accepted.

“The government is planning to arrest me, Abhijeet, Ashutosh, Ratna and other Janta Cockroach Party leaders. If the government thinks that such dictatorial actions will work, then they are wrong! The young generation has woken up,” wrote Saurav Das.

He wrote: “We appeal to everyone to continue to fight for our rights and future, with us or without us. We have always been prepared to face jail or worse. But this will be a big mistake. The youth will not tolerate this.”

“The largest mobilization since October 10”

Describing the upcoming protest as a massive mobilization, Das said, “The protests must continue. The people of India should ensure the biggest mobilization since October 10.”

The row over CEC Gyanesh Kumar was sparked by a report published by the Indian Express that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally objected to decisions on electoral rolls, voter registration and the Commission’s technology systems at least 14 times in 10 months.

However, the Electoral Commission rejected claims that the reported objections represented institutional disagreement with the final decisions. The survey panel said operational questions, input and suggestions raised during the design phase were part of its standard administrative and decision-making process. The ECI said the decisions regarding the SIR exercise schedule were unanimous.
