Tahlia McGrath has provided an update on Alyssa Healy’s availability for Australia’s Women’s World Cup match against South Africa on Saturday 25 October at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Healy missed the previous match against England due to a minor calf injury maintained during training on October 19.
In her absence, McGrath stepped in for Healy, while Georgia Voll joined the playing XI. McGrath confirmed Healy had returned to training on Friday, but Australia will make a final decision on her participation before the game.
“Midge is in training today. We haven’t finalized the starting line-up yet because it’s still a bit day-by-day. We’ll see how it goes,” McGrath told a pre-match press conference.
HAPPY WITH OUR CRICKET
While Australia are undefeated and have already secured their place in the semi-finals, they have had their fair share of problems. They had previously been reduced to 24 for three against England Ash Gardner 104 and Annabel Sutherland 98 they brought them over the finish line.
McGrath said there was room for improvement for Australia but they had found ways to maintain their winning pace.
“Every game we reviewed and identified small areas to improve on. The most pleasing thing is that we kept finding ways to win and I feel like we developed that belief as a group – that we can win from any position. That’s a huge positive,” McGrath said.
“Obviously there are still little things in every game that we want to improve on. We’re still trying to have what you might call a perfect game, but overall I’m really happy with how we’ve played our cricket and our ability to find ways to win this tournament,” McGrath added.
Saturday’s match is crucial as it will determine which team – South Africa or Australia – will finish at the top of the table and set up a semi-final showdown against India.
– The end
