A wild gaur pounced on a group of tourists traveling to Chinnakallar Falls in Valparai on Wednesday evening and knocked the two-wheeler rider off his bike. The tourists escaped without serious injuries.

The incident occurred when the group was driving along a forest road in cars and motorbikes. The bikers failed to notice the gaur standing by the road and sped towards it, prompting the animal to pounce on them and crash into their motorcycle.

The impact threw the rider and their bike onto the road. They narrowly escaped serious injury as other tourists, including those traveling in the car behind them, screamed in panic. The noise reportedly prompted the gaur to retreat into the forest, averting a potentially serious incident.

The tourists said they were lucky to escape with their lives.

Forest officials have warned visitors to be careful while traveling on forest roads in the Valparai region, where wild animals are often sighted.
