Wife works 18-hour days but still earns half husband’s salary: Viral video sparks overwork, pay gap debate | Today’s news

A content creator from Korea sparked a debate about redesign and work-life balance after sharing a video documenting what she described as a typical 18-hour work day.

Rebecca, 29, said in the viral reel that she works remotely but normally spends most of her waking hours working, often late into the night. The video attracted nearly 5,000 likes along with reactions from viewers who engaged with her program.

In the video, Rebecca says her day starts at 9 a.m. when she logs into work from her bed before heading out for coffee. After returning home, he spends most of the day working from his apartment.

Her schedule also leaves limited time to prepare meals. Rebecca says lunch often consists of instant ramen because she doesn’t have enough time to cook.

As the day progresses, her workload continues, highlighting a routine that has made viewers question whether such long hours are sustainable.

Viewers are concerned about long working hours

The reel received responses from users who urged Rebecca to seek support and reconsider her plan.

One user wrote: “Seriously, get help – it’s not okay to work so many hours.”

Another commented: “I really hate this work ethos. Without 7-8 hours of sleep you are cutting years off your life.”

A third user wrote: “This is beyond inhumane!!! No wonder so many people have mental health issues these days,” while a fourth described the routine, saying: “It’s like a prison sentence.”

Another viewer raised the issue of the gender pay gap while expressing concern about Rebecca’s workload.

“Women who are still paid less than men in the 21st century are crazy girls, you work so hard. Don’t forget to take care of yourself and get some rest too,” wrote a fifth user.

Reactions reflect concerns about excessive working hours, insufficient rest and the boundaries between work duties and personal life. However, the reel and its comments do not determine the creator’s working arrangements or the wider spread of such schedules.
