Former Opener West Indies Chris Gayle took a firm attitude against Wiaan Mulder’s decision to declare his shifts to 367 not during the second test against Zimbabwe. According to Gayle, South African dough missed a rare opportunity to etch his name into cricket history by not going for the Brian Lara 400, which was not in the test cricket.
Mulder which captain of the side in the absence of regular leaders, took over control of the match in Bulawayo. Lunch on the second day has already reached 367 escapes of only 334 supplies, while South Africa sailed to 626 for five. But instead of continuing to push towards the world record, Mulder decided to declare shifts.
Gayle, speaking in a radio show, expressed disappointment in this decision and questioned why the dough would leave from such a moment.
“If I could get a chance to get 400, I would get 400.
“Well, you’re at 367; you automatically have to take advantage of the recording. If you want to be a legend, how do you become a legend? Records come up with legend. He added.
Mulder’s shifts were historical in themselves. This became the highest individual score of the South African test cricket and passed around 311 Hashima Amly No Out. It was also the fifth highest score ever in men’s tests. Its knocking included 49 four and 4 six and reached its triple hundred only 297 balls – one of the fastest in history.
Mulder explained that later, he said that Wanted to leave the record with the player of Larina’s character And at that moment it was right to stop. He also mentioned a discussion of the declaration with coach Shukri Conrad.
“At first I thought we had enough and needed to mix. Second, Brian Lara is a legend. For some of the character to deserve this record. If I have a chance to do it again, I would do it in exactly the same way. He played after the end, after I played, ”I said I played after the end.
While some praised Mulder’s humility, others like gayle were unconvincing. The former captain of Western India, who has two triple centuries in tests, felt that such chances were very rare and should not be passed.
Although South Africa continued to conveniently win the test, much of the attention remained with Mulder’s decision – and 33 runs that remained behind.
