Australia head coach Andrew McDonald supported Star Dough Steve Smith to return from the injury and play a second test against West India, which began from 3 July. Smith missed the opener of the series after suffering the finger injury during the World Championship in the World Championship (WTC) vs. South Africa in the Lord.
However, Smith has made rapid progress on his way and is back to the launch practice in New YorkAs the captain of Pat Cummins revealed. Recently Andrew McDonald also shared an update on Smith’s road to recover and said he would probably play the second test.
“It’s really about the functionality around the finger rather than anything else. There is no risk for the long -term health of this finger. It will come back and I think it is likely to play. He leads to the next game, he will have two days,” Andrew McDonald said.
McDonald further mentioned that Smith would continue to bat on number four and the rest of the batting ranking is around him.
“As for why we see him as No. 4, I think we settled on it. We could move him up if we wanted it. It was excellent in the third.
According to Smith’s absence, Josh Inglis fired at number four in the first test, but could not leave the brand when he recorded a score of 5 and 12 in two shifts. Australia also confiscated Marnus Labuschagne in the Opening series After his failure of the opening in the final of WTC vs. South Africa.
If Smith gets into the second test, Inglis is likely to make a way for veteran dough, because Australia will focus on unsurpassed leadership in the series at the National Cricket Stadium, St Georges, Grenada.
