One of the biggest shocks in the Indian cricket happened on Wednesday, April 2, when Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to leave his state side Mumbai and switch to Goa. Jaiswal submitted an application to the Association of Cricket Association Mumbai (MCA) for a certificate of objection (night) to switch to the Goa team, which was recently promoted to the elite division of the Ranji Trophy from the group of records. 23-year-old man is supposed to represent Goa since the 2025-26 season.
Although we saw how many bombai players moved to other teams because of lack of opportunities, Jaiswal is a talent that many felt that they could go home giants for one day. Jaiswal commented on his step and said Goa offered him a leading role in a statement.
“Goa threw me a new opportunity and offered me a leading role. My first goal will be good for India and whenever I’m not in a domestic service, I will play for Goa and try to take them deep into the tournament.”
“It was an opportunity that came my way, and I just took it. It was a very difficult decision for me.
But is he just a captain who led Jaiswal to switch to Goa? The team that has recently been promoted to the Elite division is not a party that is inclined to go deep into the knockout phases. Jaiswal, with his international commitments, could only be available for playing in the phases of the removal of Ranji Trophy.
So what was basically the reason he led to movement?
Why did Jaiswal switch from Bombay to Goa?
Today, India learned from people close to the situation that it was something that has been cooked for two years. Jaiswal was not satisfied with Mumbai settings and constant control.
Sources close to development claim that the relationship between Jaiswal and Rahane has become unsustainable. The start of friction between them began in 2022, when Rahane sent great Jaiswal from the field by the captain of the western zone for disciplinary reasons. Jaiswal Sáněl Ravi Teja, the dough in the southern zone, and Rahane felt it crossed the border.
Another reason was the constant questioning for Jaiswal’s selection two seasons when he played Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. While the criticism could be correct or bad, Jaiswal felt that he was unauthorized by the team leadership.
The last straw was the famous match in Ranja Trophy last season between Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir in BKC, where Jaiswal, along with Rohit Sharma, appeared for his state party. Despite this, J&K has seen an unforgettable victory over Mumbai. Jaiswal had a bad trip in the match and was criticized by the team leadership.
Coach Omkar Salvi and Rahane questioned Jaiswal’s commitment and left the young opener angry. People close to the situation today told India that 23 years old in anger kicked Kitbag Captain Rahane.
The statement of the main selector Sanjay was not helped after the loss of J&K, because Jaiswal felt that he had indirectly focused after the defeat.
