The Mahashtra Government announced that the Feast of September 5, observed for the Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi, was overwhelmed. Originally announced on Friday 5th September in Mumbai City and suburban districts, it will now be tied on Monday 8 September.
The notification was made through an official announcement issued by the Ministry of the General Administration on Wednesday.
“While holiday 5th. September will remain unchanged for other districts in the state, it has been moved to 8 September in Mumbai City and suburbs,” the Department of General (GAD) in the circle said.
Why did the Eid-E-Milad holiday move?
The Maharashtra government has shifted the EID-E-Milad holiday after the Muslim community in Mumbai decided to organize the procession of Milad-unbi 8 September.
The change was made to “maintain harmony to Anant Chaturdashi”, which falls on 6 September and marks the end of the 10 -day Ganesh Chaturthi festival. On this day, after public parades, Lord Ganesha idola is immersed in the water.
Will the stock market be closed?
According to a holiday market calendar shared by the National Securities Exchange (NSE) and BSE, September 8 is not a business holiday. All trade activities on the stock exchanges will remain functional on that day.
Another holiday on the stock market will drop in October, except for the usual weekend closures on Saturdays and Sundays. The stock exchanges will witness holiday 2. October, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, reminiscent of the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
However, according to the list of holidays, money market and banking operations in Mumbai, September 8 will be closed with the list of holidays, money market and banking operations.
