Tim David said that returning to ODI Australian settings is not currently part of his plans, because Aussies are ready to reworking in 50 over. Australia are ready to transform their ODI group After retirement Glenn MaxwellMarcus Stoinis and Steve Smith from the format and the reflector naturally turned to David.
David, known for his explosive finishing skills in the T20 cricket, played only four ODI for Australia, scored 45 runs on average 11.25 and still have to make a 50-over format. Last time he played ODI in 2023 against South Africa. When he spoke from Perth, where he was recovering from Hamstring injuries, David said that while he did not completely rule out the possibility of returning ODI, he is currently focusing on cricket T20.
“Definitely talk about my coaches and people I want to talk to at the moment,” David said on Tuesday, as Espncricinfo quoted. “I’m not too sure to be honest. It’s not an immediate plan.”
David’s name appeared because of his proven data of the T20 and the Australian need for the dynamic Hitter of the middle order. The dough, however, said he was looking at the busy international calendar T20 T20, which led next year at the World Championship.
“We have such a busy year leading to the T20 World Championship,” he added. “Previously, I would have been away for four or five months in a row during the winter game competitions. Now we have so many T20 series that there’s not much time to think about much different.”
David’s absence was also felt in Global Super League (GSL), where he was prepared for Hobart Hurricanes. However, the injuries of the hamstrings that he suffered during this year’s IPL took longer than expected to recover, and raises concerns about whether it will be in time to participate in the tournament.
“Unfortunately, injuries and its nature will be quite a tight timetable,” David explained. “I probably got a few things that I have to uncheck with the boys CA when I get to Jamaica, but I feel confident. And unfortunately just the time framework of what these recovery look like was hard for me (for GSL),” David said.
David’s strong performances in the T20 leagues, including the key role in the Royal Challengers Bengalura’s Master’s degree this season, still making it an attractive prospect. But for the time being, its monuments remain firmly placed on the T20 cricket, so the Australian selectors will let the ODI format search elsewhere.
