Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not taking any action against the leadership of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) despite the party illegally amassing assets, and alleged that the CBI inquiry was not ordered due to pressure from Union Minister G Kishan Reddy.
At a public meeting in Bhupalapally on Sunday, he alleged that nearly ₹1,500 crore in the accounts of the BRS party had been accumulated through unethical practices.
He said the Center had initiated CBI and ED cases against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, but similar steps were not taken in the Kaleshwaram scam case. He questioned Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for his silence and called him “adopted son of KCR”.
Terming the BRS as the “Blackmailing Rajakiya Samithi”, he said the wiretapping episodes during the KCR government were proof enough of how the BRS leadership allegedly blackmailed people, grabbed land and extorted money. He alleged that the businessmen were targeted and coerced by monitoring their phone calls, which was confirmed by BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy.
Recalling the sacrifices of Singaren workers in the Telangana movement, Mr. Reddy noted that former Chief Minister PV Narasimha Rao hailed from undivided Warangal district and that students of Kakatiya and Osmania universities spearheaded both phases of the Telangana movement. He also remembered Professor Jayashankar as the key architect of the struggle for Telangana.
He said that KCR is resting at his farmhouse and PM Modi will never visit Telangana to solve local problems. So vote only for Congress to solve local problems, he said.
Highlighting the development initiatives, Mr Reddy said the state government has sanctioned ₹17,442 crore for municipalities and corporations across Telangana, including ₹6,116 crore for municipalities in the erstwhile Warangal district and ₹92 crore for Bhupalpally municipality.
Mr. Reddy also outlined plans to conduct the Godavari Pushkaral on a grand scale in 2027. He said the Medaram temple was built to stand as a landmark for centuries and the Sammakka Saralamma Jathara was organized splendidly. He said that efforts are on to supply water from Jampanna creek to Ramappa lake.
The Chief Minister announced plans to develop the stretch from Basara to Bhadrachalam as a major tourist destination with an investment of ₹3,000-4,000 crore that will transform the Godavari river basin into a tourism hub.
