33-year-old Twisha Sharma was found hanging in her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. A special investigation team was formed to probe Sharma’s death after her family alleged mental torture and dowry harassment by her in-laws, news agency PTI reported.
Twisha, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, met her husband Samarth Singh – a Bhopal-based lawyer – through a dating app in 2024 and married him in December 2025. Five months later, she was found hanged at her in-laws’ house in Katra Hills.
WhatsApp chats between Sharma and her mother, accessed by NDTV, reportedly showed that she was unhappy in her marriage and wanted to return to her parents’ house. “Why did you send me to Bhopal? He doesn’t talk to me,” Twisha wrote to her mother.
“Please come pick me up from here tomorrow,” Twisha pleaded with her mother in a WhatsApp message sent on the 7th.
Twisha was allegedly accused of carrying a child conceived out of wedlock and was later allegedly forced to have an abortion.
“He’s asking me whose child it was and you expect me to ignore it? What kind of woman are you. He’s crossed all lines. How am I supposed to live with him?” she wrote to her mother in a series of messages sent on May 9.
Who was Twisha Sharma?
A former winner of Miss Pune 2012, Twisha had a brief stint in the entertainment industry, acting in Telugu films and working with brands like Dove and L’Oreal. She also spent several years in Delhi working in marketing and communications before getting married. She earned an MBA.
According to an unverified LinkedIn profile, Twisha Sharma described herself as a “dynamic professional” with marketing management experience in the restaurant industry. The profile also mentioned her involvement in the performing arts, including acting in commercials and regional films, along with her interest in filmmaking.
The profile further stated that she worked as a Marketing Manager at Flavor Pot Foods in Mumbai in a hybrid role from July 2014 to April 2020. She was later reportedly employed as a communications and onboarding manager at the German Academy of Digital Education (DADB).
According to Twish’s profile, she completed her BBA from Savitribai Phule Pune University in 2014 and later went on to do her MBA through distance learning from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, which she reportedly completed in 2024.
The profile also highlighted her experience in performing arts, including leading roles in commercials and regional films, as well as participation in film projects. In addition, the profile described her as a certified yoga instructor and practitioner of Vipassana meditation.
