
Democratic legislator from Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman was killed on Saturday what the American media described as “politically motivated” shooting.

Melissa Hortman was the highest democratic leader in the state of Minnesota. Hortman, a member of the Minnesota Democratic – Farmer -Labor Party (DFL), served as a spokesman for the house from 2019 to January 2025.
He was born in 1970 and a 55 -year -old man represented the 34b district in the metropolitan area of the northern Twin Cities. The areas included Brooklyn Park, Champlin and Coon Rapids and parts of the Anoka and Hennepin districts.
Hortman won a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from the University of Boston and Doctor Juris from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Hortman was elected in the field of profession to the Minnesot House of Representatives in 2004.
She was married to her husband Mark Hortman, who was also confirmed that he was killed during shooting. The couple had two children – Colin and Sophie.

In the incident, US President Donald Trump said he was informed of “the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which seems to be a targeted attack against state legislators.”
