Iran said on Wednesday that he executed a man who was identified as a babak shahbazi for alleged espionage for Israel. Activists, however, claimed that Babak was tortured into a false confession.
Who was Babak Shahbazi?
Babak Shahbazi, a political prisoner, was held in prison Qezel Hesar, said Abdorrahman Boroumand Center in post X.
Shahbazi was reportedly sentenced to the death of the Teheránský Revolutionary Court, chaired by Judge Salavati, for accusing the “espionage for Israel” and “negotiations against national security”.
This sentence was unusually confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Shahbazi is said to be the father of two.
Why was Babak Shahbazi executed?
Mizan Judicary’s Mizan argued that Babak Shahbazi had gathered and sold sensitive information about Iranian data centers and security installations to Israeli manipular.
Activists, however, said Shahbazi was detained in writing a letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zlenskyyy and offered his help.
Iran added Russia drones that Moscow used to attack Ukraine.
Meanwhile, a group of Iranian human rights said: “Babak’s message to President Zelskyy to help in war against Russia was used as an example of espionage for Israel, which Babka teaches Microsoft Word.”
Babka’s “torture” and execution
The “Human Rights Center in Iran” warned that Shahbazi could be executed.
“The Iranian authorities transferred the political prisoner Babak Shahbazi to a lonely imprisonment after the Supreme Court rejected his request for renewal for the third time and increased serious concerns that his execution could be immediate,” he read x post from Iran.
In addition, Babak’s daughter Yasmin Shahbazi wrote on her X: “My father was moved to loneliness, most likely to prepare for his execution. If my father is ever executed, he will be honored that he, the innocent man, was killed by these murderers.”
According to the Human Rights Center in Iran, Babak was “sentenced to death after an unfair court that was spoiled by torture, prolonged lone imprisonment and forced confession”.
Iran did not recognize this claim. The Republic of Islamic did not work on how Shahbazi was executed, although prisoners were usually hung.
