Israel announced that Asghar Bagheri, a commander attached to the IRGC’s Quds Force special operations unit, was killed in a recent “precision strike”. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) accused Asghar Bagheri of orchestrating a series of attacks and covert operations targeting Israeli and American interests around the world while directing militant activities along the Syrian-Israeli border.
According to the IDF, Bagheri has played a central role in a series of attacks against and outside of Israel in recent years. He is said to have been involved in operations targeting both Israeli and American individuals internationally, reflecting a wide operational reach.
The military said Bagheri personally oversaw operations targeting Israeli soldiers deployed along the Syrian-Israeli border. These activities were allegedly carried out with the help of Syrian agents, including individuals who had previously served in Bashar al-Assad’s forces.
Bagheri held several leadership positions within the Quds Force, the external operational arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In these roles, he is charged with coordinating efforts aimed at expanding Iran’s operational footprint in the region.
The IDF further alleged that Bagheri directed attempts to smuggle weapons from Iran into Israel with the intention of targeting civilians.
Under his leadership, the troops also worked to build operational infrastructure on Syrian territory, which the IDF said was intended to facilitate future attacks against Israel.
In the same strike, Israel officially confirmed the killing of Brigadier General Majid Khademi, a senior intelligence official within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Majid Khademi, described as a key figure in Iran’s intelligence apparatus, reportedly evaded previous attempts by moving frequently before being tracked down and killed.
