As stated by PTI, he said that the reason for the purchase was a personal initiative to support awareness of the acceptance of an electric vehicle (EV) in India.
Sarnik, who booked the Tesla model Y just the day after the American giant launched his first showroom in the country this July, shared that he intended to donate his grandson – a symbolic gesture aimed at supporting “early consciousness” about sustainable and green mobility, PTI reported.
Here’s what the owner said
“I took Tesla’s van to extend awareness of electrical mobility among citizens, especially the younger generation. I want children to see these cars in time and understand the importance of sustainable transport,” Pratap Sarnik said.
Minister Shiv Sena said Maharashtra set the goal of introducing EV in the next decade, in accordance with the vision of pure mobility of the Prime Minister. The state also announced several incentives, including exceptions from tolls to Atal set and on the Samruddhi motorway, he said.
“Although the costs are slightly higher today, what matters more is the right example and acceleration of the acceptance of EV.”
He said that Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has already acquired almost 5,000 electronic orders for public transport, while charging stations have been established throughout the state.
In particular, the Tesla model Y is currently the only Tesla vehicle available in the Indian market. It is offered in two variants of the rear wheels and rear-wheel drive with a long range. The standard rear -wheel drive is for the price £60 lakh while the long -range version comes £68 Lakh.
I want children to see these cars soon and understand the importance of sustainable transport.
Of the two, the rear -wheel drive with a long range offers a larger range of 622 kilometers and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, making it more power focused.
