Who is Towhid Hridoy? Bangladesh batter breaks records and historic 350 not out
Towhid Hridoy produced one of the greatest individual batting performances in Bangladesh cricket history as he smashed an unbeaten 350 for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in the second unofficial Test in Potchefstroom on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh A captain faced 481 balls, hitting 27 fours and ten sixes as he guided his team to a record total of 676 for eight declared. Hridoy, who came in at No.4, was at the heart of Bangladesh A’s remarkable recovery after slumping to 86 for three in response to South Africa’s first innings 512.
He added 151 runs with Jaker Ali, who fell short of six centuries after reaching 94, before forming another crucial partnership with Mohammad Saifuddin, who made 87. Hridoy’s marathon innings spanned over 191 runs and broke several first-class records.
South Africa A reached 18 for no loss in 12 overs before the match ended in a draw. Although Bangladesh A lost the two-match unofficial Test series 1-0, the series finale undoubtedly belonged to Hridoy, whose extraordinary triple century set a new first-class batting record for Bangladesh.

Who is Towhidy Hridoy?
Born in Bogra on 4 December 2000, Towhid Hridoy has long been regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most promising middle-order batsmen. Hridoy, a right-armer who can also play off-spin, came through the country’s youth system and was part of Bangladesh’s historic 2020 Under-19 World Cup winning team.
He made his debut in the Rajshahi first-class division in 2017 and gradually built a reputation through the domestic cricket and franchise leagues. His performances earned him an international call-up in 2023, with Hridoy making his T20I debut against England on 9 March and his ODI debut against Ireland later that month.
He has since become a regular in the Bangladesh limited-overs set-up while also representing franchises including Sylhet Strikers, Fortune Barishal, Comilla Victorians, Jaffna Kings and Rangpur Riders. He made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in June 2026, adding another milestone to his international career.
At 25, Hridoy’s unbeaten 350 is now the defining innings of his career. His marathon strike in Potchefstroom showed a different side to his game, combining patience, concentration and temperament with his attacking prowess.
For Bangladesh cricket, the question now is not just who Towhid Hridoy is, but how far he can go.
