Who is Shivam Mishra?
Police on Monday said Shivam Mishra was driving the Lamborghini that rammed into people in Kanpur on Sunday.
He is the son of businessman KK Mishra.
Shivam Mishra made a public appearance in 2024 during the Income Tax Department’s investigation into his family’s tobacco business Banshidhar Tobacco Private Limited, NDTV reported.
According to the report, the Income Tax department conducted surveys at 20 locations in Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai and Gujarat.
Reports indicated that the company declared an annual income of Rs ₹20-25 million, while its actual turnover was estimated at ₹100-150 million. This led officials to allege discrepancies between declared income and actual turnover.
The officials then alleged that the company may have circumvented income tax laws and violated Goods and Services Tax (GST) rules, NDTV reported, adding that investigators also suspected the money was hidden using offshore accounts and manipulated ledgers.
