
Sanjay Jamuar is the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), a newly formed subsidiary of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
DMIL was set up to take over metro projects as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) in India outside Delhi and abroad.
Announcing the development in a post on X, DMRC said, “Sanjay Jamuar has been appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL), which was set up by DMRC with government support to take over metro projects as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks in India outside Delhi and abroad.
Who is Sanjay Jamuar?
DMRC said Jamuar is a retired Indian Railway Transport Service (IRTS) officer with extensive experience across Indian Railways, DMRC and internationally in UK, US, France, Middle East and Europe.
On his LinkedIn profile, Jamuar says he is a “railway and public transport expert with extensive international experience”.
Sanjay Jamuar Education: Jamuar holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management from Warwick Business School UK and has done research work at Leeds University in Transport Economics.
Sanjay Jamuar Career: When Jamuar joined DMRC in 1998, he was the first O&M employee. According to his LinkedIn profile, Jamuar has a “proven track record of: procurement and bidding; business strategy; planning, project development, program management; operations and maintenance plans; public-private partnerships and private finance initiative transactions; business plan development, including cost and revenue plans; held leadership positions with direct responsibility for revenue and profit. Jamuar is also a business owner.”
He said his specialties include: “operations, bid development, project development from concept to financial close, program management, business strategy and planning. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.”

DMRC says it is already involved as a consultant in the Dhaka Metro project in Bangladesh. It also handles key O&M contracts for Chennai, Mumbai and Patna metro projects and has played the role of consultant for almost all major metro projects in India.
DMRC has also carried out civil works for metro projects in Mumbai, Jaipur and Patna. Therefore, DMIL is now expected to further expand DMRC’s footprint across the globe.
