Who is Prem Agarwal?

Prem’s ambition to become a chartered accountant took root during the 11th and 12th grades, fueled largely by his strong interest in mathematics, according to NDTV. He soon recognized his career goal and wasted no time waiting for milestones before taking the next step.

His teacher, CA Aditya Chhavchharia, told NDTV that Prem and a few other students started preparing for the rigorous CA intermediate stage immediately after the CA Foundation exams without waiting for the results to be declared.

This proactive approach allowed them to cover a significant part of the syllabus in the first months and lay a solid foundation for their preparation.

How did he pass the exam? Discipline and zero distractions

For the past six to seven months, Prem has been devoting eight to ten hours a day to his studies, reports NDTV.

Apart from completing the syllabus, his basic strategy revolved around regular revision and taking practice tests to consolidate his understanding of various subjects. Prem, she told NDTV, firmly believes that repeated revision is the key to improving knowledge and performing better in exams.

In an age where digital distractions often derail students, Prem took a rigorous approach. He doesn’t have an Instagram account and uses his cell phone purely out of necessity.

NDTV said it uses YouTube purely for educational purposes and WhatsApp only to discuss subject-related issues with friends and teachers. Prem noted that having a small, supportive group of friends made exam preparation much easier and allowed them to tackle difficult topics together.

When doubts crept in about whether his hard work would yield the desired results, he relied on his teachers to constantly encourage him to keep studying and repeating.

Praise and inspiration

Behind Prem’s stardom was an incredibly supportive family environment. His mother, Nidhi Agarwal, told NDTV that the family had expected him to perform well, but coming third in the country was a wonderful surprise.

“We are very happy with his result. He gave 100 per cent and that was all we wanted from him. We always told him not to give in to pressure and focus on doing his best,” she said, adding that he was never pressured to chase a particular position or score.

She also shared a strong message for other parents, urging them to avoid putting too much pressure on children for results. She emphasized that every child has the ability to achieve something great and parents should help them believe in themselves rather than encourage academic anxiety.

She emphasized that a single examination does not determine a child’s entire future and advised parents to support their children in setbacks and help them learn from their mistakes.
