
The Formula 1 world was Omrán on Wednesday 9 July when Red Bull Racing announced the departure of the long -time director of the team and CEO Christian Horner. Horner was replaced by Laurent Mekies, a highly respected and seasoned figure in global motor sports.
Horner, who joined Red Bull in 2005 after Jaguar Racing, helped build one of the most dominant F1 teams. Under his leadership Red Bull won 8 drivers and 6 designers of the championship and strengthened his heritage as one of the most successful heads of the sport team.

Taking Reins is Laurent Mekies, a French engineer who worked across several F1 teams and held higher roles at the FIA. Mekies studied mechanical engineering in Paris and later graduated from the UK university.
Who is Laurent Mekies?
Laurent Mekies began his journey Formula 1 with Arrows team in 2001 before moving to Minardi as a racing engineer. After the team became Toro Rosso, Mekies got up across the rows to become the main engineer and later the performance of the vehicle’s performance.
In 2014, Mekies joined the FIA as a security director focusing on driver safety and medical procedures. Later he was promoted to the deputy director of the Formula 1 race. In 2018 he returned to Pit Lane and joined Ferrari as a sports director. Until 2021, the racing director was appointed and helped Ferrari lead to seven racing victories during his time.
In 2023, Mekies returned to the Faenz team to lead the team now known as Racing Bulls and replace the long -time team chief Franz Tost.
Although the racing bulls faced early struggles under his leadership, Mekies brought a gradual improvement, navigation challenges such as Daniel Ricciard’s exit, and the rearrangement of the driver’s line -up this season.
