
Bharatiya Janata (BJP) -led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) selected the Governor of Maharashtra CP Radhakrishnan, the existing Governor Maharashtra, as a candidate for vice presidential elections. BJP and Minister of the Union JP Nadda announced during a press conference.
“At the meeting of the parliamentary council, we all unanimously decided on the VP candidate, the CP Radhakrishnana. We also discussed the VP candidate with all our alliance parties (NDA) before.

This development follows the meeting of the parliamentary Council of BJP, which was attended by the leaders of the parties, including the Prime Minister of Narendra Modi and the Minister of the Union Amit Shah.
Dhankhar resigned on 21 July
The candidacy comes almost a month after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as Vice President 21. July and launched a competition for his successor. Dhankhar, 74, took over the office in August 2022 and served until 2027.
The Election Commission issued a notice on 7 August for elections from September 9 to the place of Vice President, who became a nomination process. The last date of filing nomination for vice -presidential elections is August 21. The opposition Indian block must still announce their candidates, even if the numbers prefer NDA.
“CP Radhakrishnan considered a statesman, commanding respect in all parts of society in Tamil Nadu,” Nadda said.
Who is CP Radhakrishnan?
Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan was associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), an ideological mentor of BJP since the age of 16.
“In his long years in public life, Thiru CP Radhakrishnan distinguished her with his determination, humility and intellect. During the various positions he held, he always focused on community service and seized him marginalized. Modi said in the X post.
Radhakrishnan was a member of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) and was elected twice to Lok Sabha of Coimbatore. During his time, the deputy worked as the chairman of the Parliamentary Permanent Committee for Fabrics. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Sector (PSU) and Advisory Committee for Finance. He was a member of a parliamentary special committee investigating the exchange of the stock exchange.
In 2004, Radhakrishnan addressed the UN General Assembly as part of the parliamentary delegation. He was also a member of the first parliamentary delegation at Tai -wan.

Between 2004 and 2007, Radhakrishnan served as State President of BJP in Tamil Nadu. He attended 19,000 km “Rath Yatra”, which lasted 93 days.
Yatra was organized to emphasize its requirements for the interconnection of all Indian rivers, eradicated terrorism, conducted a unified civil law, eliminated inviolability and fought against the threat of narcotic drugs.

How is the vice president elected?
Pursuant to Articles 63 to 71 rules of the Constitution and Vice President (election) of 1974, formal elections had to be taken within 60 days of Dhankhar’s resignation 21 July.
Voters or election universities include all members of both parliament – chosen and nominated – using a system of proportional representation by the only portable vote. MEPs will submit a single transferable vote with a secret vote.
The election university currently has 788 deputies, 588 in Lok Sabha and 245 in Rajya Sabha.
