Social media has exploded with claims that bodybuilder Connor Murphy has died. At the time, there was no confirmation from the family or direct representatives.
His death has since been reported by several media outlets, including Thai media. He reportedly drowned in a lake in Samut Prakan province, Thailand. According to Thairath reports, this occurred on July 7.
This claim comes from an X (formerly Twitter) account called BowTied Biohacker. Other accounts suggested that the bodybuilder drowned in Thailand specifically. Murphy had more than 3 million followers on Instagram at the time. At last check, the number had crossed 3.77 million.
Connor Murphy posted the Instagram Reel just four days earlier. It was a playful video with a football and a golf club.

Social media users are now calling out this video. They comment on his reported death.
“Man man. Gonna miss you bro. Sending love to heaven,” wrote one.
“RIP Connor. You were my first fitness inspiration,” another user wrote.

“The Thai curse is real,” another user wrote.
Another user commented: “RIP the legend man. Inspired so many in 2016-17 before Jeff and David blew up.”
“He was the reason I joined the gym. From watching his funny videos to Omegle!!! I can’t believe it. The guy was a legend,” chimed in another.
Who is Connor Murphy?
Connor Murphy rose to fame in 2016 with his viral fake shirt trick. He has amassed over 2 million subscribers on YouTube through bodybuilding transformation content. He also competed in the NPC Dallas Europa Games where he finished third overall.
Around 2020, its content shifted dramatically towards spirituality and fasting. He explored meditation and psychedelic experimentation, upsetting some fans online.

Witnesses reportedly filmed the YouTuber behaving erratically before the drowning. He allegedly tried to hand out money and was rolling around in public. He then ran into the lake and swam until exhausted.
Rescuers found his body about 20 meters from the shore. Investigators found unused syringes and unidentified pills in his vehicle. These findings do not yet confirm any specific cause of death. His girlfriend said she never knew him to use drugs.

Police did not find any signs of assault during the initial inspection. His body was sent for a full autopsy and toxicology tests. The US Embassy in Thailand has been formally informed of the events. The official results and cause of death remain unconfirmed.

“Connor Murphy lived on a golf course in Bangkok. It’s very beautiful and he has a nice house there. It’s literally on the water. His back balcony looks out over the water, as you can see from his Instagram and the things he posts,” Hughes said.
“So he ended up drowning in his garden pond. There were many more things leading up to it, but that’s how he ended up dead: he drowned. Until his death, he believed he had achieved some kind of superhuman ability.”
