At the 51th Summit G7, which will be held on Sunday in the distant city of Cananasis, Alberta, Canada, the leaders of the seven -country group – Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US – encounter intensive discussions on global issues.
The three -day summit will end on June 17th.
At the G7 2025 meeting, there is probably an intense debate on the developing crisis in West Asia after Israel launched massive strikes at Iranian military and nuclear locations on Friday, the Israeli offensive against Gaza, the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian War and Trade War by US President Donald Trump.
A group of seven countries represent 44% of the global economy, but only 10% of the world’s population.
Who participates in the G7 2025 meeting?
This year Canada organizes the summit G7.
In addition to G7 leaders, the summit will be seen by leaders from the European Union (EU) and the heads of states from Non-G7 members.
Among the leaders from countries that are not G7, invited by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, are Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
The G7 summit is expected to participate in the leaders of Ukraine, Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa and South Korea.
What will the leaders discuss?
The G7 Summit website reports three basic problems at this year’s discussions.
“Protection of our communities around the world”; “Building energy safety and acceleration of digital transition”; and “securing the partnership of the future”.
After the Finance Ministers’ session in Canada in May, the group issued a joint statement that they would continue to follow “politicians and practices without market” that create imbalances in world trade.
The statement was considered a crossing to Chinese business practices.
Peter Boehm, the Canadian summit of the G7 2018 summit, expects the heads of state to turn the discussion to devote more time to the war, the AP press agency reported.
“The leaders can conceive a discussion, maybe even a statement,” Boehm said. “The foreign policy program is growing with it.”
