Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya caused a controversy on Thursday by “not likeing women or girls wearing revealing clothes to the extent that I refuse to take pictures with them”.
He also quoted the Western proverb that compared the brevity of speech with the selection of women’s garments – the proverb said he wasn’t watching. A video about Vijayvargiya’s notes about women’s clothing was widely spread on social media.
Vijayvargiya said on Thursday that she considered women a “form of a goddess”.
“If a girl (in India) wears good and nice clothes, she makes good make -up and wears nice jewelry, then people consider her very beautiful. But abroad, if (woman) wears less clothes, then she considers himself good.
He also considered an inappropriate foreign proverb comparing short manifestations of leaders with short women’s clothing.
“Look, there is a western proverb that is not good, but this proverb is much discussed in foreign countries … It is said (abroad) that, like a girl wearing less clothes, similarly, the leader who presents a short speech is also very good.
In the middle of laughter and applause of the audience, the Minister of the Cabinet turned away that it did not consider it a foreign proverb. “I don’t follow this proverb. I believe in our country (India), women are a form of goddess. They should wear very good clothes,” the assembly said.
He added: “I consider women to be a goddess and should wear good clothes. I don’t like women or girls wearing the revealing clothes (Mereko where the Caps of Wali Ladki Achi na nadi lagti).”
“When girls come to take selfies with them, I tell them they should come to wear good clothes and then let me click on selfie. I refuse to take pictures with them,” he said.
