Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, who arrived in the capital on Sunday, will meet her Indian counterpart with Jaishankar, today, October 13. The discussion between two leaders is expected to focus on creating a framework for bilateral “strategic” cooperation in the areas of trade, energy and security.
This is the first visit to Ananda in India since it was taken over by the accusation of the Foreign Minister of Canada in May this year. It is also scheduled to meet with the Minister of Trade Trade PIYUSH Goyal to discuss ways to strengthen bidirectional business links.
“This visit will help to build on positive dynamics in India-Canada’s relations by revitalizing our bilateral mechanisms, deepening economic cooperation, and further strengthening links to people anchoring our partnerships,” said Randhir Jaiswal.
Anand will travel to Singapore and China from India.
Anandan visit to India comes at a time when India and Canada are aimed at creating a framework for strategic cooperation on questions such as trade diversification, energy transformation and security, Canadian deducted on Saturday.

“Minister Anand also travels to Bombai in India, where he meets Canadian and Indian companies working to support investment, job creation and economic opportunities in Canada and India,” she said.
A visit to the Canadian Foreign Minister comes more than three weeks after Nathalie Drouin visited India and conducted extensive interviews with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
Days after Doval-Dovin’s meeting, Canada described Lawrence Bishnoi Gang as a terrorist entity for “violent” on certain communities and created a “climate of fear and intimidation”.
Renewed vibration in India-Canadian ties
The renewed vibration in the ties between the two countries was followed by interviews by Prime Minister Narendry Modi with his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney on the edge of the G7 summit in Canadian Cananasis.
India-Canada’s relations hit the rock bottom after the prime minister of the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2023 a potential Indian connection with the killing of Hardeep Singha Nijjar.
India refused Trudeau’s accusation as “absurd”.
In October last year, India remembered her High Commissioner and five other diplomats after trying to connect Ottawa with Nijjar.
India also ruled out the same number of Canadian diplomats.
However, the victory of the Liberal Party leader Carney in the parliamentary elections in April helped to start the process of resetting relationships. Both parties have already published their high commissioners in the capital cities. Both countries also agreed to revive several mechanisms for the development of relations in different areas.
