“So, who is our prime minister?” The Minister of General Education asked V. Sivankutty in Malayalam and on Sunday (July 13, 2025) in the morning smiling at five children sitting in front of him in Rose House. “Narendra modi,” came the answer from eleven -year -old Ahmad Mozamel Rahimi. Mr. Sivankutty fired another question: “Who is our main minister?” The young Afghan boy paused only for a moment before he replied, “Pinarayi vijayan.” “And our Minister of Education?” Mr. Sivankutty’s thy inquiry caused laughter all around.
Ahmad Mozamel Rahimi, his sister Marwa Rahimi (12) and brother Ahmad Mansoor Rahimi, 8 1/2-all three students of the government of the Sreseekaryam High School were visiting Rose House with their younger siblings five-year-old Ahmad Rahimi and three-Aa-Half Mahnaz. They were accompanied by their parents Shafiq Rahimi and Zaghona Rahimi and the teachers of the children’s class were MV and Latha R.
The Kabul family moved to Thiruvananthapuram in 2021, when Mr. Shafiq Rahimi joined the University of Keral economy as a research scholar in economics. “I met the children when I visited school. So I invited my family to have breakfast with us today. Our public schools have many students outside Kerala and even from abroad,” Mr. Sivanka said.
Mr. Rahimi decided to move to Thiruvananthapurama after the completion of the postgraduate studio in Hyderabad. Mrs. Zaghona Rahimi is in the home. “Kerala is a very beautiful place. But this is our last year. We are coming back soon,” he said. He says he looked at Kera before he moved here. Described the southern Indian state as a very safe place to live. A couple of Afghanistan has a total of six children, but on Sunday the oldest 16 -year -old Ahmad Moosawer Rahimi, who is now plus one student, was present.
After spending several years in Kerala, it seems that children, especially eleven -year -old mosses, have become quite adept into handling with Malayalam, often considered a difficult design for non -native speakers. “She has nailed Schoonaan (it’s a good school), intelligent classrooms, teachers have picked,” he said, when the minister wanted to know if they were comfortable in their state government school. Children speak Dari at home, one of the two main languages of Afghanistan. Older children say they raised Malayalam and Hindsky who spoke with friends at school.

After the family was said to return next year, Mr. Sivankutty encouraged young people to tell their Afghan friends to visit Kera.
On arrival in Rose House on Sunday morning, the family was warmly welcomed by R. Parvathy Devi, the wife of the Minister and former member of the Keral public service. After breakfast, the Afghan family also represented a photo with the Minister and his wife.
