Presidents Day is widely recognized as a celebration honoring all American presidents and has been officially celebrated since 1879 as a federal holiday commemorating Founder George Washington. This year it falls on February 16.

Washington led the Continental Army to victory during the American Revolutionary War, presided over the Constitutional Convention in 1787, and served as the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797.
