Bihar Polls 2025: The first phase of Bihar elections began as voters in 121 constituencies out of the total 243 in the state cast their votes and decided the fate of hundreds of candidates in the first phase.
The districts undergoing polls today are Patna, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Buxar and Bhojpur.
The election, which started at 7 am, will end at 6 pm. However, due to security reasons, the polling time has been reduced to 5 pm in Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger, Jamalpur and 56 polling stations of Suryagarha Assembly segment.
Voting is currently underway in 45,341 polling stations, with the vast majority (36,733) located in rural areas.

‘Celebrating democracy’: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters to cast their votes with full enthusiasm.
“Today is the first phase of democracy celebration in Bihar. I urge all voters in this phase of assembly elections to vote with full enthusiasm,” he wrote on X.
He also said: “I take this opportunity to especially congratulate all my young friends in the state who are casting their votes for the first time. Remember: first vote, then refreshments!”
Voting for the second phase, involving 122 seats, is scheduled for November 11. The results will be announced on November 14.
