Hours after police attributed a Goa nightclub fire to a possible pressure cylinder burst, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant released more details, dismissing initial suspicions and saying fireworks were behind the deadly blaze that killed at least 25 people.
Speaking to the media after a review meeting with senior officials, Sawant said preliminary investigations revealed that “electric firecrackers” were set off inside the nightclub, which started the fire.
The CM said that four employees of Birch by Romeo Lane have already been arrested and added that the nightclub owners Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra will be arrested soon.
Sawant’s latest update corroborates earlier eyewitness accounts that attributed fireworks at a North Goa nightclub to the deadly fire in which 25, including 14 staff, suffocated to death.
