US Secretary of Defense Pete HegSeth convened higher US military officers from around the world for a meeting in Virginia in Virginia, and next week Reuters reported about five officials. The Assembly represents a rare convergence of US military leadership in one place.
Purpose and participation unclear
It remains uncertain why HegSeth convened an appointment in such a short time. Two officials told Reuters that sudden summons had caused confusion between invited generals and admirals, many of whom command thousands of soldiers around the world.
“People are trying to change their plans and find out if they have to participate,” one American official said on condition of anonymity, emphasizing the logistics challenges, which is a sudden directive, the intelligence out said.
Pentagon Comment
When he approached the statement, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told Reuters: “The war secretary will start his higher military leader at the beginning of next week.” The Parnell Office refused to provide further details of the number of participants, the purpose of the meeting or the reason for a sudden notice.
Renaming the department
The meeting comes in the middle of the Director of President Donald Trump’s Pentagon of the Ministry of War, which would require the approval of the congress.
US troops are located around the world, including South Korea, Japan and the Middle East. These forces are commanded by two, three and four -star generals and admirals, which adds the complexity to coordinate such a large meeting, Reuters noted.
