The Russian envoy in the UK, Andrea Kelin, addressed the disappointment of US President Donald Trump with Russian President Vladimir Putin and emphasized the seriousness of Ukraine.
Kelin answered the question, “Trump said he was very disappointed with Putin who disappointed him. He is clearly angry.”
When Kelin spoke of Trump’s statement, he said in an interview with Channel 4, “And what? We should follow his controversial statements every time. Not at all? We are in operation, serious operation, well, the situation in Ukraine is a conflict.”
Kelin emphasized the importance of the conflict of Ukraine and said, “This is a fundamental interest for us. We had to solve it once and forever. It is not associated with European security or other NATO countries. We have a problem with Ukraine.”
“Putin disappointed me,” says Trump
Last week, Trump expressed disappointment from Putin for not preventing war from Ukraine, causing significant victims.
“He disappointed me. I think he kills many people and loses more people than him, you know than kills. Honestly, Russian soldiers are killed higher than Ukrainian soldiers,” Bloomberg News quoted at a press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Trump said that although he believed that the Russian-Ukrainian war would be “simplest” to resolve, this was not the case.
He also claimed that the war in Ukraine would not start if he stayed in the White House. “That was a thing that would never happen if I were a president. If I were president, it would never have happened. And it didn’t happen for four years,” Trump said.
After the Alaska summit between Putin and Trump, where the American leader urged the Russian president to negotiate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zlensky, the Peace Agreement did not take place.
Ukraine and Russia have been involved in the conflict since 2014, which in February 2022 escalated to the war in full. The conflict began when Russia attached Crimea in 2014, and subsequently supported the separatist movements in the Ukrainian region Donbas, according to Bloomberg.
