To represent the country itself is a blessing and to win something for India in the blue jersey is really special.

I was initially not interested, but my father encouraged me and enrolled me in the academy. It was quite a journey from there to play at various levels and finally to India. I feel lucky that my father showed me the right path.Was there an emotional moment during your journey to winning the T20 World Cup this time around?Watching Sanju Samson score those crucial runs during the knockout stage of the World Cup made me emotional. I know him well and he has been batting brilliantly in T20s over the last year, though he hasn’t always been getting opportunities due to team combinations. To see him perform when it mattered and help India win was very special.How is your preparation going for the upcoming IPL?We (Delhi Capitals) have a very strong squad and we did well last season. Personally, my approach is simple – go out there and take wickets.When do you start preparing for ODI World Cup?The World Cup is still 15-16 months away, so preparations will gradually build up, starting with the England tour later this year. I have been playing ODIs for almost nine years now and it is a rewarding format for me. The goal will be to replicate these performances on the biggest stage.
