US President Donald Trump, 79, was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) after reporting a slight swelling in his lower legs. The printing secretary of the White House Karoline Leavitt announced the condition on Thursday and described it as a “benign and common” problem, especially among people over 70 years.
The tests have confirmed any dangerous blood clots (deep veins), heart failure or other systemic disease.
The diagnosis was monitored by public speculation about the visible swelling of the ankle during the event FIFA 13.
What is chronic venous insufficiency (CVI)?
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) occurs when veins in the feet cannot draw blood back into the heart correctly, causing blood to join.
This is because small valves inside the veins that keep the blood running upwards are damaged and allow back flow (called “venous reflux”). According to reports, about 1 out of 20 adults develops CVI, while the risk increases sharply after 50 years.
Common triggers include aging, obesity, blood clots or long -term positions. President Trump, 79, was diagnosed after the ankle swelling was noticed, although the tests were eliminated by dangerous clots or heart problems.
Symptoms range from swelling to skin ulcers
