Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-Silem), specialized special accounting vehicle (SPV) to carry out large city ticket infrastructure projects, will have an initial financial obligation of 7,000 crore from the state government, but is also entitled to attract private investments. This dual approach is designed to allow greater flexibility and mobilization of resources for large -scale urban infrastructure projects, sources said.
However, the company will be completely owned by the state. According to the Memorandum on the Association, the Karnataka government will hold a 90% share in the company, while the BBMP retains the remaining 10%.
11-member council
The B-Sile will follow the eleven-member council led by the CEO of full-time, which is an IAS officer. The Board of Directors will include the mayor of Bengalur, the Bangalore and Bangalore Water Supply and Severage Board, head engineer Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and three private sector experts. This mixture of public officials and domain experts is expected to lend both administrative and technical expertise organization.
B-SMILE and its tasks
Supervision of performing several ambitious infrastructure projects, including:
Construction of 40 km of tunnel roads below the city
Development of the integrated network of overproofs and underpasses
Road development along Raja Kaluves (rainwater drainage)
Creating Skydeck 250 meters as a new urban monument
Administration will lie with a 11-member council that consists of:
Full -time CEO (IAS officer)
A demanding BBMP engineer
Mayor of Bengalur
Commissioners of the Bangalore and Bengalur Development Office with water and sewer board
Three Private Sector Experts from the Infrastructure and City Development Sector
It is expected that the Board of Directors will be further redesigned after the introduction of the Act on the Administration of Public Bengalur, 2024 and when the current BBMP is divided into multiple corporations. This scenario is expected that B-Smile will be tasked with most of the Pan-City projects that reduce more companies, sources said.
Construction of 40 km of tunnel roads
One of the first main tasks before Smile B will be supervised by the construction of 40 km of tunnel roads below the city, which is part of a larger plan of the smallest surface traffic.
In addition, the company will be responsible for the implementation of the nationwide network of overpasses and underpasses, building new roads along the bumper zones of rainwater drain and developing iconic high Skydeck by 250 meters, all companies are closely linked to the Deputy Minister and Minister of Development Bengalur DK Shivakumar.
Given that B-Sile is devoted to large infrastructure projects, corporations/s will continue to manage routine maintenance of cities, such as repairs of potholes and small road work.
