Within a few hours after the accident, the interest in the “Air India flight cancellation” in India increased by 1000% between 13:30 and 14:30 June 12. In particular, the MayDay Call searches rose around Thursday afternoon and touched a 300% search increase within an hour. The keyword reached the peak at 16:30 on June 12 with an 800% search increase.
But Telangana was not alone in finding clarity. Throughout India, Ahmedabad accidents quickly became the most visited topic, with Google trends to increase more than 1,000% above the normal level.
Search terms related to the air force, many of which have seen small activity in the days leading to the accident, suddenly saw huge jumps. The word “Cadaver”, probably driven by deaths on deaths and identification challenges, has seen more than 600% increase in finding interest. “Boeing 737”, the model of the aircraft on the middle of the accident, rose by 500%, as well as “black box”, “cabin of the plane” and “flight number”, which signals the appetite for technical insight associated with investigating the accident.
Other prominent searches that have seen a significant hike include “AI171”, “DGCA investigation”, “Recorder Data Recorder” and “Black Box Foundow”.
Even the name of the only known survivor, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, culminated several times in the two -day period, recorded above 100%, because people were looking for details of a miraculous escape.
