Forensic technique of overwhelming the image of the scene of crime and the accused, including the technique of his genitalia, with a video of sexual assault to conclude that the person on both paintings was used to identify the former Hassan of Member of Prajwal Revn in the video associated with the case of rape against him. This technique was first used in Karnataka.
Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat, a special judgment for criminal cases against the former and current deputies/MLA, in his judgment by convicting Prajwal Revanna for rape, appreciated the investigation conducted by a special investigation team (SIT) for “their limpid testing and use of modern technology.”
SIT was led by BK Singh, another CEO (ADGP), a criminal investigation (CID) department.
After the arrest, Prajwal Revanna was exposed to a medical examination, where photographs from his body parts were taken, including his genitals to compare with those parts of a man visible in the video, even though his face was not visible. Forensic teams also took photos of crimes scenes – a room in Gannikada Farmhouse and a room at the Revanna House in Basavanagudi – to overlap them with those in the videos.
“SIT took advantage of the best available scientific methods, and is probably the first case in the State in which SIT asked a forensic science laboratory to super-prepare images of the room environment found in videos with pictures that were scientifically captured during the investigation, and also explore patterns of image scientifically.”
“The proposed image of the victim at the place of the incident, as well as parts of the body, the substance that was worn was compared.
“Furthermore, a comparison concerning the venous structures of the accused genitalia was carried out, and at the end it was caused that visible features in both images and vein placements would suggest that visible properties were consistent across two visual elements and depicted both individuals the same individuals.”
