The sudden death of rapper Poorstacy has sent shock waves across the music industry, but an inquest has revealed how the 26-year-old spent his final moments and who was with him. The ‘Don’t Look at Me’ singer, whose real name is Carlito Milfort, was with his mother Nicole Grikstas and a young child when the rapper allegedly fired a loaded gun at himself. This happened a few hours after Milfort and Nicole consumed cocaine on November 28.
According to a TMZ report, the couple stayed at a motel in Boca Raton, Florida a week before Poorstacy’s death. Regardless of the presence of their child, the couple allegedly consumed large amounts of drugs, police said.
According to the report, both used cocaine, MDMA and the drug Xanax during their stay at the motel. Hours before the tragedy, Nicole Grikstas took a dose of MDMA around 3 a.m. on November 29. Nicole informed the police that not only did the two consume drugs in front of their child, but they also fought during the night due to infidelity.
Despite the explosive environment embroiled in tension, Nicole did not move the child to a safer location, police say. Therefore, Nicole was arrested for child neglect after failing to protect the child from an unstable environment, the report said.
According to Nicole’s statement, Milfort accused her of hiding his drugs. When she denied his accusations, the singer was forcibly stripped to check her body for hidden narcotics. She claimed Milfort punched her several times during the encounter, the News Outlet reported, citing a Boca Raton Police affidavit.
The fight escalated, during which time Milfort pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t tell him where his drugs were, Nicole said. The two then fought for nearly an hour before Milfort put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger early Saturday morning, Nicole told police.
In Poorstacy’s death, police arrested Nicole Grikstas on Saturday. During the interrogation, Nicole broke down and detailed the events leading up to Milfort’s gunshot death.
When officers searched the motel room, they found food scattered throughout the room, a Taurus handgun, drugs and drug paraphernalia, and children’s toys.
Milfort’s baby is with Nicole’s family, TMZ reported. Although Poorstacy’s death is said to be a suicide, Milfort’s family suspects foul play.
