The Western Union Company on Tuesday announced the launch of its Global Capability Center (GCC) in Hyderabad in partnership with HCLTech.
The facility is designed to accelerate Western Union’s transformation through advanced AI-driven innovation, platform operating model and engineering excellence, strengthening the strategic partnership between the two companies.
“This center represents an important step in Western Union’s transformation and expansion journey in India. Through our strategic partnership with HCLTech, we combine deep engineering expertise with advanced AI capabilities to go beyond payments, accelerate innovation and deliver seamless and secure experiences for millions of customers around the world,” said Western Union President and CEO Devin McGranahan.
Together with the Pune Tech Centre, GCC will serve as a global hub for technology, engineering and operations, powering next-generation payments infrastructure, enhancing digital consumer experiences and building world-class capabilities, Western Union said.
“Together, we are focused on delivering measurable results in line with Western Union’s Beyond strategy, advancing a digital-first business model, expanding consumer services beyond remittances and modernizing next-generation payment infrastructure,” said HCLTech CEO and MD C. Vijayakumar.
During the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 in December, Western Union’s leadership team met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and informed him about setting up GCC in collaboration with HCL Tech on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.
