West Indies 0/0 in 0.0 Overs | India vs. West Indies Live Score, 2nd ODI: India win the toss, opt to bowl; Auqib Nabi makes his ODI debut
India vs. West Indies Live Score, 2nd ODI: India won the toss and opted to take on West Indies in the second ODI in Guwahati on Wednesday.
India made one change to their XI, with Auqib Nabi making his ODI debut in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy.
West Indies, meanwhile, made four changes to their playing XI, with captain Shai Hope admitting the visitors would also prefer to bowl first.
“We will mix first,” said Indian skipper Shubman Gill at the toss. “There’s a little more grass and it looks a little messy at times. So I think it’s going to be a little bit more for fast bowlers at first.”
Gill said India were happy with their comeback in the first ODI but wanted to improve their fielding, especially during the middle overs.
“I think the intensity in the field in the middle overs is what dictates the game and I think that’s one of the areas where I thought we could have been a bit better in the last game. So hopefully I think this game will be a bit better,” he said.
Gill also boosted India’s top order after their performance in the series opener.
“I think everyone looked good. Even Rohit bhai looked good so hopefully it will be another good game for us,” he said.
Hope said West Indies have another opportunity to put runs on the board and give their bowlers a defendable total.
“The coin toss is a 50-50 chance and no matter what happens, we have to do well. So today we have another opportunity to play on the board and try to get good scores and give our pitchers something to defend,” Hope said.
Asked about the pitch, Hope said: “It looks pretty good. I just think it’ll be a bit of a start, but we have to judge it quickly and then see what a good score would be at the end.”
