Police manager in Baruipur PalashChandra Dhalali said on Wednesday that the incident is exploring. He said that the deceased family came to the Bakultala police station, and the police staff was asked to file a formal complaint.
“Until Sunday night, however, we have not received any complaint about public alcohol consumption or public inconvenience against which they reportedly protested. We would take steps if they intimated us,” Dhali said.

Selim Khan, a relative of the deceased, claimed that after their family protested against drunk harassment, a group of miscreants dispersed and returned with a larger group, armed with sticks, rods and explosives.
“On Sunday in the presence of police staff, Miscreants threatened to kill Sayem before next morning. The police did not act at the threat. Then a group of 50-60 people returned and violently attacked my uncle and brother. My brother was half dead before he was taken to the hospital.”
