
West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose resigned in Delhi on Thursday after serving 3.5 years in office, according to a Lok Bhavan official.
“I have spent enough time in the governor’s office,” Bose told PTI.

CM Mamata Banerjee reached out to X and said she was “shocked” and “deeply concerned” to learn of Bose’s resignation. She said she had learned from Union Home Minister Amit Shah that RN Ravi would replace CV Anand Bose as Bengal Governor.
She said she was not aware of the reasons that led to his resignation, but added that given the prevailing circumstances, she would not be surprised if the governor was being pressured by the Union Home Minister to serve certain political interests ahead of the upcoming State Assembly elections.
She further said that such actions undermine the spirit of the Indian Constitution and go to the core of the federal structure of the country. Emphasizing the need for cooperative federalism, she said the Center should respect democratic conventions and avoid unilateral decisions that threaten the dignity and autonomy of states.
Who is RN Ravi?
Born in Patna, Bihar on April 3, 1952, RN Ravi, 73, joined the Indian Police in 1976 after a brief career in journalism. During his service, he worked with the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Intelligence Bureau. He was appointed chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee in 2014 and became deputy national security adviser in October 2018.
After his retirement from the bureaucracy, Ravi was appointed as the Governor of Nagaland in August 2019, serving until September 2021. He also held the additional post of Governor of Meghalaya from December 2019 to January 2020. He was sworn in as the Governor of Tamil Nadu on 18 September 2021.

CV Ananda Bose, 75, born in Mannanam in Kerala’s Kottayam district to freedom fighter PK Vasudevan Nair and Padmavathy Amma, a former government official, CV Ananda Bose, 75, received his early education at St. Ephrem’s School in Mannanam and later studied at Kuriakose Elias College, also in Mannanam, followed by St. Changanasse College. He then received his Ph.D from BITS Pilani.
Ananda Bose is married to LS Lakshmi and they have a son and a daughter. His daughter Nandita Bose died of cancer in 2017. A prolific writer, he is the author of around 350 publications, including 70 books comprising novels, short stories and poetry in Malayalam, Hindi, English and Bengali.
Bose was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal by President Droupadi Murmu on 17 November 2022.
