Hundreds of villagers demanded security and protested after the votes were counted Lack in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Saturday (May 2, 2026), alleging that they received life-long threats from TMC workers in the area.
Protesters, many of them women and holding BJP flags, blocked a road in Hasimnagar village, alleging that local panchayat pradhan Israfil, a close associate of TMC candidate Jehangir Khan, had threatened them with attacks after the election results were announced.
