West Bengal Election 2026: Who lost the most?

Story so far: As post-election violence engulfs West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is staring down defeat from her stronghold of Bhabanipur at the hands of her aide-turned-rival Suvendu Adhikari on May 4, 2026. Voted out of power for the first time since 2011, the Trinamool Congress has since been reduced to a record low of 29 seats. The BJP swept the state, winning a single majority of 206 seats.
The Trinamool Congress, marked by the exclusion of 90 million voters from the electoral rolls due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of depriving the electoral base. Trinamool – Mamata Banerjee, former power minister Aroop Biswas, actress Shrreya Pande also suffered the biggest upset in these polls. The other notable losers are the parties – the Left parties and Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM.
