Farmers in Karnataka’s Kolar, Ramanagara and Chikkaballapur districts, who have been receiving advance orders to export mangoes to countries like the UAE, have been hit this year due to ongoing tensions in West Asia. Growers say this has disrupted their usual export flow and forced them to look to other markets such as the UK and Canada.

This season, the production is better compared to the last two years. As a result, prices are unlikely to rise sharply, according to traders and growers.
Mahantesh P. of Chikkaballapur said he registered as an exporter with the Horticulture Department this year to avoid middlemen. He said the usual export chain had been affected by the war in West Asia and was now looking to explore markets in the UK and Canada.
Manga has already started arriving at city markets, but according to traders, stocks have not yet reached full capacity. More varieties are expected to arrive from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and parts of Karnataka in the next 10 days. Currently, both supply and demand remain low.
Traders said that because of the uncertainty, exporters are now being asked to pay more than 50% cash advance. “Many of our regular buyers have not turned up this year. Some who have come have not confirmed their orders and a few have not made payments,” the trader said.
In 2025, early rains hit the crop in January. The supply is better this year and prices are expected to remain moderate. Selvan Kumar M., a trader in Bengaluru, said overripe mangoes usually go to the pulp industry at the end of the season, mainly in Tamil Nadu, but rising transport costs and uncertain demand are a concern. “Right now we are focused on getting better returns from local sales,” he added.
“Prices are currently stable, with Alphonso at ₹280-300 per kg, Raspuri and Sindhura around ₹250 and Banganapalle at ₹180-200,” said Sridhar M. of KR Market in Bengaluru. He added that the prices of varieties available during the season may fall further, affecting margins.
