Actress Wenne Alton Davis, known for her role on the Amazon Prime TV series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” died on December 8 at the age of 60 after a car accident. She was hit by a car in New York, according to the USA Toda report.
The NYPD was alerted to a vehicle collision that occurred around 8:45 p.m. Monday. “The woman struck and killed by a car in Midtown earlier this week has been identified as actress Wenne Alton Davis,” CBS News quoted the NYPD as saying.
Wenne Davis was walking at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway when the accident occurred. The NYPD Highway District Investigative Unit conducted an investigation into the case and determined that a 61-year-old man was driving the black 2023 Cadillac XT6 that struck Wenne Davis. The driver was maneuvering the car to the left and heading west when he collided with Wenne Davis in the crosswalk.
The New Amsterdam actress “suffered severe head and body injuries” in the accident and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. He has not yet been arrested, but the investigation into the case continues.
Davis’ other notable works include “Shame”, “Girls5Eva”, “Blindspot” and “American Odyssey”.
“I felt like she was saying goodbye,” Davis’ neighbor says
Edward Reynoso, Davis’ neighbor, who became close to the actress after she moved into the building with her cat Roxie five years ago, said he shared a heartfelt moment before her death. Wenne Davis told Reynos, “I love you, I appreciate you.” “It was so weird to me because I felt like they were saying goodbye,” the Daily News quoted Edward Reynos as saying. He added: “It all feels so strange now that it’s happened.”
Elaborating on their bond, he said: “We became close because we always bumped into each other in the hallway,” reported The US Sun. “She was very energetic, compassionate, selfless. I will miss her smile, her laugh and her zest for life,” said Edward Reynoso.
According to the publication, Davis was on her way to meet a friend for dinner and a movie when she was hit by a car just four blocks from Radio City Music Hall and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
